Data Maintaiance
Often the source of the data is regularly updated. To ensure the data we gather reflects these changes we regularly return to the source of the data to check nothing has changed
We’re passionate about making your data management as simple as possible. Our systems are designed specifically to reduce the development required to publish up-to-date, good quality and well structured data.
The Pling-o-matic can automatically create and update plings from any data that is published on the web. Our system can consume calendar feeds, data scraped from websites and data held in web services such as the Open Family Services Directory.
The pling-o-matic queries a range of sources to find event information. We query web services, public calendars and can get data directly from any website
Data is published in a variety of formats, our systems parse, cleanse and validate data before uploading to plings. It ensures data quality.
Each data source naturally has its own unique format. Pling-o-matic maps the format of each of our sources to the plings schema ready for upload

The pling-o-matic queries the Open Family Services Directory daily looking for records tagged with a Leisure and Recreation vocabulary term.
When appropriate records are found they’re tested against a range of conditions to ensure their quality and completeness. Dates and times of the event are generated, as if by magic, from the freetext descriptions.
The data is reformatted and uploaded directly the the plings website. Once a record is live at plings.net it is check each night to ensure it hasn’t been changed or deleted at OFS.
Some Local Authorities like to manage their events on a google calendar. The pling-o-matic GCal feed enables these events to be consumed into the plings website.
Once setup our system can take a regular feed of the data held in your google calendar reformat it and upload to the plings website.
We’ll return daily to check what’s changed, been added or deleted and reflect this immediately on the plings website.
Perhaps you’ve already got a huge database of activities in your local area and you’d like to get involved with plings but can’t invest in building a connection between your database and the plings service.
We can configure a system that will visit your website once a day and gather the information we need to publish your activities at plings.
That means if you make a change on your site we’ll make the same change in the plings database.
Each day we process around 40,000 records looking for instances of times, days and dates.
At any one time there can be over 40,000 records live at plings.net in the next four weeks.
Pling-o-matic creates records for local authorities across the country.
